Dr. Hooman Mir, known as Dr. Hooman, is a highly esteemed DPM Physician and Assistant Professor of Medicine at UTRGV, School of Podiatric Medicine.

With a notable academic background, Dr. Hooman completed his Medical Degree in Podiatry Medicine at Temple, School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, followed by Medical & Surgical Externship-Training at renowned medical institutions such as Temple General Hospital, Albert Einstein Medical Center, Kennedy Memorial Hospital, A&M Scott and White Hospital, UT Health Science Center at San Antonio, and Yale-New Haven VA Hospital in association with Yale, School of Medicine.

Dr. Hooman also performed a one-year Surgical Internship in Foot & Ankle Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, followed by two years of Clinical Research Training at UT Health, Department of Medicine in San Antonio. From his research training, he obtained a Physician-Master’s degree in Clinical Investigation, making him the only DPM Physician to have completed the MSci (Master of Science in Clinical Investigation) Training at UT Health San Antonio with full tuition from the National Institute of Health (NIH). Of note, Dr. Hooman received his third advanced training in Healthcare Policy and Safety at the Thomas Jefferson Medical Institute in Philadelphia, solidifying his comprehensive understanding of the field.

Dr. Hooman’s achievements extend beyond his training as a clinician, highlighting his passion and competency as a medical educator. He has dedicated the past 6 years to advanced work in Academic Medicine , reflected in the recognition of the “Best Educator Of The Year” Award at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California. Dr. Hooman’s dedication to excel as a professor continued as he joined UTRGV, School of Podiatric Medicine in 2022 and he became the first DPM faculty to be accepted into Harvard Medical School Program for Physician Teaching-Training in Medicine with an academic scholarship. His exceptional teaching skills and expertise are highly regarded, and he is expected to graduate from his Harvard Medicine Training Program in June 2023. For the past 6 years, Dr. Hooman has served as a guest speaker, medical lecturer, and conference workshop organizer in the Podiatric Amputation field at prestigious institutes like Imperial Medical College in London. In addition, his extended work in simulated medicine, including advanced work with Anatomage and medical curriculum design, has earned him praise and awards in academic medicine. Dr. Hooman’s innovative and advanced medical lectures have also been highly regarded, highlighting his expertise and commitment to advancing medical education.
